What is the Mockingbird Stroller?

Simply put, this is one of those strollers that does a bit of everything. You can technically roll 3 kids, a couple bags, a purse, snacks, and phones all at the same time.

It has a modular design which makes it extremely versatile in seat positioning and allowing flexibility in how many kids you push around.

The Mockingbird stroller was recalled on November 10, 2022 due to the possibility of the frame cracking which can be a fall risk for children riding in the stroller. To find out if your stroller was one in the voluntary recall click here. The strollers that are available through Target, Hello Mockingbird, and Babylist are not affected from the recall.

Who Created the Mockingbird Stroller?

Eric Osman created this stroller while his sister was pregnant. Osman felt that the experience of finding baby products was outdated and quite frankly awful, particularly in the stroller department.

He noticed that there were a handful of very expensive and cheap options but very little selection in the middle. Osman decided to fix that by creating the Mockingbird Stroller with a modern yet direct customer approach.

Top Benefits of the Mockingbird Stroller

With any product there are the benefits that make a product shine. Here are the top benefits of this stroller:

1. It is a stroller that grows with you

This stroller is modular and can be configured for 1 or 2 children. It has a single to double version which allows the stroller to grow with you and your family.

2. It has Many Accessories

Mockingbird has many accessories. The accessories they offer are:

  • Bassinet
  • Bassinet stand
  • Car seat adapter
  • Riding board
  • Infant set insert
  • cup holder
  • mosquito net
  • seat liner
  • Rain cover
  • Foot and hand muffs
  • Snack tray
  • Water bottle holder
  • Parent organizer

3. It is affordably priced

While the stroller is similar to the Uppababy Vista V2 Double stroller, the price tag steers clear of Uppababy territory. The Mockingbird has a direct to customer approach which allows the company to pass the savings to the consumer.

Best Features of the Mockingbird Stroller

There are a handful of features so let’s dig into the best features!

1. Single to Double Capability

The name says it all. Having a stroller that can grow with your family or downsize as the kids get older is a huge perk. If you only have one child and are unsure if there will be a second baby, this can still be a great stroller option as a single stroller.

2. Lightweight

For being a double stroller, it is comparably lightweight. The Mockingbird is made out of anodized aluminum giving you enough stability, without the excess weight.

3. Excellent Customer Service

Since this is a direct to customer product the customer service has to be top notch. The company has a 30 day return policy. Don’t worry if you’ve used it and decided you didn’t like it. They expect you to take the stroller out of the box and try it.

4. Stylish

This can be subjective so I will leave it to personal interpretation. One thing that is less subjective is the stacking orientation vs other brands side by side configurations. The stacking configuration allows other people to use the sidewalk along with you which is nice if you want to walk with a friend or your partner.

5. Multiple Seat Configurations

The multiple seat configurations offered by the Mockingbird are great. You can have the kids facing you or if you need a break, they can face away from you. They can even be configured facing each other for siblings to better engage in physical altercations. You can have two to toddler seats, or two infant car seats. You can have one toddler seat and one car seat adapter, the possibilities keep going.

6. Large Underneath Basket

You won’t be lacking in space and is a nice perk to this stroller. This stroller has one of the largest baskets available. A large diaper bag, snacks, toys, and more can fit in in the basket all at once.

7. Easy to put together and take apart

If you are a parent, you welcome anything that makes your life easier. This stroller is very easy to change configurations, put together, and take apart. The folding mechanism is seamless and can be done single handed.

Mockingbird Stroller Pros & Cons

Like all things in life nothing is perfect. Here is what we thought of the stroller:

Mockingbird Pros

  • Comfortable stroll with adjustable handlebar
  • Easy to use
  • Modular
  • Many accessories
  • Large underneath storage basket
  • Easy to close one handed
  • Relatively lightweight

Mockingbird Cons

  • Not compact when folded
  • Accessories aren’t included
  • Ride isn’t as smooth as some of its competitors

Pros:

There are many pros for the Mockingbird, including the adjustable handlebar which makes for a comfortable stroll.

Most of the stroller is modular meaning you can easily detach parts of the stroller with a push of a button. The seats detach along with most accessories, including detachable wheels. So if your front wheels get too worn or need to be replaced you can easily do so.

The folding mechanism is easy enough to use one handed, collapsing the stroller quickly. The large storage basket will let you bring a couple of bags or even place an extra toddler seat in case your child insists on walking but gets tired on the way back.

Cons:

The stroller does so many things well but in doing so is unfortunately not amazing at anything. The mockingbird’s folded state is as compact as a comet. The bulk is not all bad though, because of its size there is plenty of room for extra bags or the kitchen sink if needed.

Interestingly enough because of the size and relative lightweight the Mockingbird, it is not as “smooth” of a ride as some of the competitors.

The Mockingbird does not come with a caddy or cup holder like other strollers for the water bottles, wallets, or phones. All accessories are sold separately which can be annoying when other stroller brands provide them with your initial purchase.

Mockingbird Stroller Alternatives

In the market of double strollers how does the Mockingbird Stroller stack up? Well, there are a few such as:

  • Graco DuoGlinder Click Connect
  • Graco Ready2Grow
  • Maxi-Cosi Lila
  • Uppababy Vista V2 Double Stroller

Another alternative to double strollers are stroller wagons. Many stroller wagons can carry 2 or more kids and are able to be pushed or pulled unlike double strollers which can only be pushed.

My Experience Using the Mockingbird Stroller

The Mockingbird has done exactly what we hoped it would. When we had our second kid our single stroller was now obsolete. After extensive product research we bought the Mockingbird Single To Double Stroller. We bought the second seat and the infant car seat adaptor as part of the purchase.

The modular design has been very convenient. Being able to switch from a single stroller to double stroller takes less than a minute once you get the hang of it. The multiple adjustments have been clutch.

Being able to have your baby facing you but the toddler can still face forward was a go to setup. The large underneath basket has a ton of room which we have utilized several times. One thing we bought on amazon was a cup holder/basket for the handlebars so we could easily store our phones or water bottles on walks.

We ultimately love our Mockingbird and think you will love it too.

Can You Take Your Mockingbird Stroller to Disney?

The single mockingbird stroller is 31”(L)x26”(W)x41”(H) and the single-to-double stroller is 33”(L)x26”(W)x40”(H).

Disney states that double strollers that are larger than 31” x 52” are NOT permitted in the parks.

The mockingbird strollers are small enough to be used in the Disney Parks.

Conclusion: Should You Buy the Mockingbird Stroller?

This Mockingbird Stroller has several upsides for parents undecided about their family size. You can easily use this as an only child ride or adapt if more kids come along.

The stoller is easy to use and will get you where you need to go. There are better options if you are solely using this as a jogger. When using this as an everyday stroller for walks to the park or in stores that’s where the Mockingbird really shines.

This stroller can do a bit of everything all for a mid tier price.

If you are looking for a stylish stroller, that can move through isles, easily adjustable, and can grow with the family then the Mockingbird stroller is a great option.

Having a full size stroller that can easily maneuver and yet haul the whole crew is a definite asset for any parent. We highly recommend this stroller and it is definitely one of the best products for parents.
