What to wear to work when pumping

Looking fashionable at work but also functional for easy pumping access can be tricky! Don’t think you have to wear nursing shirts or outfits in order to have your “girls” quickly accessed. I don’t think I ever wore anything that was specifically for nursing other than a nursing bra and sometimes a nursing camisole if I needed one. We will go over what to wear to work when pumping to give which gives you the most accessible clothing choices while pumping.

Nursing Bra

This is the only nursing item I wore to work every day. A nursing bra is a bra that typically has clips that hold up the cups. These clips unlatch and pull down the cups of your bra without removing the whole bra itself. I wasn’t a fan of completely undressing so this was helpful for me. My favorite nursing bra is this one from Calvin Klein. It is very comfortable and has held up really well over the last year and a half!

Button Up Blouse

Button up blouses are super nice to wear when pumping. All you have to do is unbutton a few buttons and you have quick access to your “girls”. It is nice to be able to keep your shirt on while you pump. If you work in a place where there isn’t a lock on the door, it is nice knowing if anyone comes in you’re still clothed.

Flowy Shirt

If your shirt has some wiggle room you can use it as a nursing cover and pump underneath it. This option works pretty well if you want to keep your clothes on while you pump.

Romper

Unlike a dress that has to be completely lifted up from the bottom, rompers work well because most of them are removed at the top. Meaning you slide down the “arm area” which gives you access to your top half but allows your bottom half to stay clothed. I didn’t like having my bottom half “naked”. It was uncomfortable feeling cold while pumping.

Nursing Camisole

Nursing camisoles are nice to wear especially if you have a summer baby. It is also helpful if you need to wear a top underneath a sheer shirt. Just like nursing bras, these have clips that unlatch at the top which move the cup area down for you to quickly allow you to nurse or pump. These are one of the best breastfeeding accessories that every mom will love.

Ultimately, any clothing choice you make while pumping is a good one as long as you are comfortable. These are a few articles of clothing that I found to be easy to maneuver without removing all of my clothes. This is what I suggest you wear to work when pumping! If you found other pumping accessible clothing I would love to hear about them in the comments.
